AORANGI PASSENGERS GET THEIR OWN MEALS SETTLEMENT SOON REACHED SYDNEY, January 30. About 150 stewards and cooks went on strike at the quarantine station where the Aorangi passengers are detained. The strike is probably the first of its kind in a quarantine station. The stewards and cooks, who are members of the Aorangi's crew, demanded higher rates of pay and when no settlement was reached by the dinner hour the passengers were forced to prepare their own meals. Soon after dinner a settlement was reached and the men resumed work. FULL PERIOD OF QUARANTINE (Received January 31, 1.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 30. The remainder of the Aorangi's passengers will not be released until the end of the full period of quarantine. SUSPECT DISCHARGED FROM HOSPITAL AUCKLAND CASE (FRE3S USSOCUTIOS rELEGEAW.) AUCKLAND, January 30. The patient admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Tuesday as a suspected case of smallpox was discharged to-day after experts had examined him and expressed the definite opinion that he was not suffering from the disease. Dr. J. W. Craven, .Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said the patient had returned to his home. The man concerned was an Auckland resident who returned by the Aorangi on January 20 after a trip abroad.
