APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS GRADING OF CONTRIBUTING SCHOOLS A meeting of the Canterbury Education Board was held yesterday. Mr C. S. Thompson presided, and there were also present Messrs W. P. Spencer. W. A. Banks, R. Wild, J. W. Preen, W. T. Langley, S. Baird, S. Smith, H. | J. Bignell, and G. W. Armitage. The following appointments were confirmed: —Bromley: Mr J. P. Knight, head teacher. Jack's Mill: Mr E. R. Darracott, head teacher. Linwood avenue: Miss R. L. A. Hodgson, assistant mistress. Salisbury: Mr J. A. L. Bush, sole teacher. Shirley intermediate: Miss M. A. Read, assistant mistress. Spreydon: Miss A. V. Suckling, assistant mistress. Springbrook: Mr R. H. Rowe, sole teacher. Sydenham: Miss S. Gillespie, infant mistress. Templeton: Miss M. D. Turner, assistant mistress. Taramakau: Mr C. H. Minifie, sole teacher. Waimairi: Mr H. C. Hill, assistant master. Wakanui: Miss B. I. Mitchell, assistant mistress, Winchester: Mr H. K. Dawber. It was resolved that letters of appreciation be sent to Miss E. H. A. Wright (Burnham) and Mr W. J. Glanville (Darfield), who are retiring after long and faithful service. Grading Proposal The Addington School Committee forwarded a request that the board urge upon the department the necessity of grading contributing schools on roll numbers. The board decide to support the proposal and forward it to the department. A letter was received from the Education Boards' Association stating that th- proposed conference of education boards had been held over in the meantime. An invitation from the Kimbell School for members of the board to attend the jubilee celebrations of the school on January 26, 27, and 28 was accepted.
