ANNUAL TREAT FOR CHILDREN

Assistants at the St. Martin's House of Help spent a busy day on Saturday, when more than 800 children from distressed families were entertained at the annual Christmas treat. At 10 o'clock in the morning a large queue had formed on the lawn in front of the house, and it became evident at once that the Rev. Percy Revell and his helpers were going to have a strenuous day's work. The treat, however, had been carefully planned, and the scheduled programme was adhered to. The children were taken in groups from the queue and were entertained in the dining-room until their turns came to visit the "toy cave." One by one they were led to the cave, and were asked to choose a gift from the large array of assorted toys on the tables there. Books for the older ones, buckets and spades, toy motor-cars, and balls, for the younger ones, as well as innumerable other toys, were there in profusion, and more than one child found some difficulty in making his choice. As each left the room he was given a piece of cake
