CHRISTCHURCH CORSAIR CLUB
CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL HELD The last evening for 1934 of the Christchurch Corsair Club, which was held in the Railway Hall, took the form of a Christmas carnival. The hall was gaily decorated with coloured lights, clusters of flowers and greenery. The guests of honour were Mr F. Brittenden (New Zealand Railways) and Mrs Brittenden, Mr Turton (New Brighton Band) and Mrs Turton,- Mr H. Gladstone Hill (Derry's ~ Military Band), and Mr and Mrs A. Urry. During the evening 44 prizes were given to the ladies and members of the Corsair motor section, and the season's cups and trophies were presented. The Pirate Cup, given by Mrs Frost, and the Vimiera cup, given by' Mrs Urry, were presented by their doriors to M., B. McClurg, who also received the Herb. Moore Cup, given by Mr and Mrs Moore (Greymouth,), and presented on their behalf by Mr H. Gladstone Hill. The T.T. championship cups were presented to M. B. McClurg, H. Lack, G. Bennett, G. -Glasson, S. Benzoni, and L. E. Cooke. The pommittee's -special T.T. Gup and the McClurg Trophy, for fastest time in the Pirate T.T., were, presented by Mrs Brittenden - to J. Brewer, w*hile the Pirate T.T, Cup, the Hard Luck Cup, and four consolation cups, all of which were given by Mrs Brewer, were presented to J. Holden, J. Bourne, D. Blackwell, C. G. Frost, L. Harrington, and R. McClurg, by Mr J. Brewer, on behalf of his mother: A presentation of a gold-mounted wallet, suitabjp inscribed, was also made to Mr F. Greenbank, the cricket manager, on behalf of the cricket club members, the field captain, E. Bailey, and the cricket club captain, C. G. Frost, thanking Mr Greenbank for his untiring work for the cricket section. Music for the evening was supplied by Jackson's Band.
