DEATH FROM BURNS

Thomas Pickering, aged 78, who was found sitting in a shed in a badly burnt condition on Sunday, after having escaped from his burning hut the previous Thursday evening, died in the Ashburton Public Hospital on Thursday. The inquest on Pickering was opened before the District Coroner (Mr R. Clark) yesterday morning, when evidence of identification was given by William John Brown, builder, of 8 Wills street, Ashburton. It was stated that Pickering had no relatives in New Zealand. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
