BAND CONCERT

HOSPITAL GROUNDS TO-MORROW ROTARY CLUB'S HAMPER FUND The Rotary Club's 1934 Christmas Hamper Fund Appeal will conclude tomorrow with a Christmas band concert at the hospital gardens. Besides providing a substantial sum towards the cost of the hampers, the concert will provide a titting and restful conclusion to the activities of the appeal. The patients at the hospital always look forward to this concert, and this year a glance at the programme, of which an advance copy is available, promises a treat for the patients and th.e crowds which are sure to attend.

At 2 o'clock punctually the Woolston Brass Band will head the march from Cathedral square to the hospital, and Mr R. B. Hean, secretary of the Bands' Association, will dispatch the other bands at intervals of three minutes in the following order:—

Derry's Military Band. Band of the Scottish Society of New Zealand.

Band of the First Canterbury Regiment.

Canterbury Caledonian Society's Pipe Band. New Brighton Municipal Band. Christchurch Scottish Pipe Band. Christchurch Municipal Band.

On arrival at the hospital, an officer, kindly detailed by the Defence Headquarters, will direct the bands to their stations, and at 2.30 p.m. the massed bands will play the National Anthem and "Farewell My Comrades" (Rimmer), under the baton of Captain C. H. Hoskin. This opening will be followed by an attractive programme, including:—Selections by Scottish Society's Pipe Band, "Dovecote Park." "Maori Melody." March, "Challenge"; hymn, "Fierce Raged the Tempest." Christchurch Municipal Band. March "Through Bolts and Bhrs"; "Morning, Noon, and Night"; Christmas carols, Derry's Military Band. Selections by Caledonian Society's Pipe Band: "Loch Duich," "Dougald McColl's Farewell to France" "Dorrator Bridge,'-' "The Brolum"; march and waltz, "Dorothea Stewart Murray's Wedding March," "Believe Me, If all Those Endearing Young Charms." His Worship the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) will address the gathering. Waltz, "Venus on Earth"; hymn. "Shipley." Stanmore Silver Band. Carol, "O. Come, All Ye Faithful," accompaniment by Woolston Brass Band. Overture, "Zauberflote" (Mozart), Woolston Brass Band. Carol "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing," accompaniment by Woolston Brass Band. March, "The Flving Squad"hymns, "Winchester Old," "Stu'ttgard," Band of the First Canterbury Regiment. Address, the president of the Rotary Club, Mr J. Mawson Stewart Selections by the Christchurch Scottish Pipe Band: "Glenfinlas," "Hot Punch," "Reel o' Tulloch," "Dornoch Links," "Heroes of Culloden."
