OBITUARY

MR W. YOUNG The death occurred recently of Mr W. Young, of Burwood, after a short illness. Mr Young was a strawberry and tomato grower. He leaves a widow and grown-up son and daughter. The funeral took place at the Sydenham cemetery. The service was conducted by the Rev. Father O'Regan. Pall-bearers were Messrs J. and R. Young (St. Martins), brothers, Mr L. Young (nephew), Messrs R. H. Graham (Motukarara), F. L. Graham (Leeston), brothers-in-law, and Mrs F. Cusack (Burwood). MR J. E. HOLMES (PRESS ASSOCIATION TILEOIA1I.) WHANGAREI, December 21. The death has occurred of Mr James Edmund Holmes, aged 78. The son of a Worcestershire clergyman, he was born 78 years ago, and arrived in New Zealand when in his 'teens. He went to the Mangonui district, where he lived till 1905. Then he came to Whangarei, of which he was Mayor for two years, and a borough councillor till the time of his death, as well as filling posts on other local bodies. He was one of the best-known Freemasons in the Dominion. THE REV. J. P. MOYNAGH SYDNEY, December 21. The death has occurred of the Rev. J. P. Moynagh, aged 81, the eldest priest by ordination in the archdiocese of Sydney. He was ordained in 1882. SIR ALBERT SPICER LONDON, December 20. The death has occurred of Sir Albert Spicer, a former Liberal member of Parliament. [Sir Albert Spicer was born in 1847 and was made a baronet in 1906. He was a director of Spicers, Ltd., papermakers, for many years. He was a prominent Congregationa,]ist and from 1907 to 1914 was a member of the advisory committee to the Army Council on the spiritual and moral welfare of the Army.]
