About 50 children, besides I parents and friends, were present, and j several musical items were given during the evening. The remainder of the evening was spent in games and i competitions. McGowan and Mr A. Anderson. The items were in- ! terposed with general folk dancing in I which a good proportion of the adults I took part. HORNBY The fortnightly meeting of thv Olive Branch Lodge of Druids was held in the Parisli Hall, A.D. Bro. J. Lloyd presiding over a fair attendance of members. Correspondence was' received from the No. .1 Royal Arch Chapter about the quarterly meeting. One new member was admitted by clearance. DARFIELD At the invitation of the Darfield branch of the Mothers' Union, a large and representative gathering of ladies met in the Memorial Hall to hear an address by Deaconess Park. The Rev. A. S. Moflatt welcomed the visitors. Deaconess Park gave an inspiring and helpful address, taking as her subjects "The Call to Renewal." "Motherhood," and "The Spirit of Christmas.'' On behalf of the Malvern branch of the Mothers' Union. Mrs Moflatt ex- ' pressed thanks and appreciation to the speaker. Mrs G. W. Dent (Court-j enay), Mrs Gilchrist (Oxford). Mrs G. B.'Nans'on (Cust). and Mrs W. G. \ Clarke (Darfield Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union) also expressed thanks to the speaker, and to the Mothers' Union for an enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea was served by the members of the Darfield branch. An afternoon was held on the croquet lawns and tennis courts recently, each member paying a contribution for games. A bring and buy table, of which Mrs D. McMillan was in charge, did good business. A well attended general meeting ol the Croquet Club was held in the shelter on a recent afternoon. After considerable discus-ion it was agreed that the jubilee committee join with the school committee in n picnic (for former pupils and present pupils) to the Waikuku beach on February 16, 193").
