SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY
JLINWOOD CHURCH OF CHRIST During this week the Linwood Church of Christ Sunday School anniversary was celebrated happily with good attendances. The special preachers were Mr J. B. Mcßride and Pastor Stuart Stevens, the minister of the church. The principal items were recitations by Lorna Oberg, Nancy Williams, S. Ames. Dawn Mitchell, Brian Williams. Solos were given by Hazel Oberg, Noeline Jarvis, choruses by the school, and a Scripture recital by June Humphreys. Kindergarten prizes were given to the following: Ruth Jarvis and Betty Humphries (equal) 1, Leonie Reynolds and Daphne Reynolds (equal) 3, Dawn Mitchell 5. Special prizes were awarded to Lily Clough, Belly Lloyd, Audrey Dalwood, Audrey Pearce, Eileen Pearce. Nancy Williams, Valma Shepperd, and Brian Williams. The children's treat was followed by the concert and distribution of prizes. Pastor Stevens presided and the programme committee comprised Miss Mollday, Miss E. Rhind, Miss E. Kirby, Mrs Mitchell, Mr Ames, and Mr Jarvis. Recitations were given by Lily Clough, Ruth Jarvis, Hazel and Lorna Oberg, Daphne Reynolds, Eric Hobson. Nancy Williams, Dawn Mitchell. Miss Myral Haigh was at the piano with Miss L. Oberg as assistant. Items on the programme were action songs, "Golden Slumbers," by the kinders; duct in character, Rosina Hobson and Norma Shepperd; action song by Edna and Gordon Hobson; dialogues by Miss Kirby's class and Miss Rhind's class: playette by June and Nancy Humphreys, Shirley Baker, and Beth Kirby; recitations by B. Bcattie, Noeline Jarvis, Norman' Oberg. Maurice Shepperd, Gwen Pearce, Shirley Baker; song in character by Shirley Ames, Shirley Baker, Pauline Pearce; duet in char-J acter by Noeline Jarvis and June Laurie; pianoforte solo by Noeline Jarvis. Miss Rhind, cradle roll superintendent, presented cards and greetings to members of the grade. Pastor Stevens presented the following prizes:—Miss Kirby's class: Beverley Beattie 1, Joyce Reynolds, Ruth Reynolds (equal) 2, Gwen Pearce, Pauline Pearce (equal) 4. Mr Jarvis's class. Gordon Hobson 1, Jack Clough
2, Norman Oberg 3. Special prizes to Trevor Beckley, Maurice Shepperd, Ken. Laurie. Miss Rhind's class: Edna Hobson 1, Noeline Jarvis, Shirley Ames (equal) 2, Nancy Humphreys, June Humphreys (equal) 4, Beth Kirby, Shirley Baker (equal) 6. Special prize: Norma Shepherd. Mr Ames's class: Rosina Hobson, Joyce Clark (equal) 1, June Laurie and Edna Beckley (equal) 3. Special prizes: Edwin Oberg, John Oberg, Max Laurie. In addition those who won New Zealand Dominion diplomas at the annual examinations received their awards.
