FISHERMAN DROWNED LAUNCH CAPSIZED BY WAVE (I'RESS JLSSOCUTH>H TELEGIAU.) DUNEDIN, November 22. John Harold Outram, aged 35, a single man, lost his life at Taicri Mquth this morning. Outram, who lived with Ills Brother, Thomas, at Kuri Bush, was part-owner of a lishing launch in which he and his brother went fishing, returning about 9.55 a.m. Thomas Outram was at the tiller and John Outram was in the engine-room, with the door closed. A large wave struck the boat, capsizing it. Thomas Outram was thrown out, but managed' to free himself of his heavy boots and trousers and swam asnore, a distance of a mile and a half. He had to make his way | against a strong outward current, and was in the water for more than an | hour. | His brother was trapped in the engine-room and drowned. •Fishermen went out and found the Oulrams' launch about two miles down the coast in a water-logged condition. They recovered the body of John Outram and towed the launch | ashore. SERIOUS IIEAO INJURIES Miss Jean Milner, of Mather's road, Halswell, received serious injuries to her head when the bicycle on the bar of which she was riding was struck by a motor-car in Ilagle.y avenue shortly arter 10.30 last evening. She was taken to the public hospital and late last evening she was stated to be in a serious condition. FRACTURED LEFT LEG Mrs Scannell, of Ashburton, was riding a bicycle in Simeon street, Spreydcn. shortly after 8 o'clock last evening, when she collided with another cyclist. She was (aken to the hospital with a fractured left leg. Her condition last evening was slated to be satisfactory.
