BROADCASTING BOARD

FORTHCOMING VACANCY The present membership of the NewZealand Broadcasting Board was criticised yesterday by Mr W. G. V. Fernie, president of the Canterbury Radio Traders' Association, who has just returned from attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Radio Traders' Federation in Wellington. Mr Fernie considers that the present board was appointed without sufficient consideration of the qualifications necessary for the position. At present the board, with a membership of three, included an accountant, a farmer, and a grocer, he said. On December 18 a vacancy would occur on the board and listeners should take the opportunity to urge upon the authorities the appointment of a man who knew something of the [problems of radio.
