EXHIBITS OF HIGH QUALITY THE PRINCIPAL AWARDS (SPECIAL TO THE P8153.) OAMARTJ, November IS. Tho North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association's seventy-first annual showwas commenced under delightfully sunny conditions to-day. Though the season is tho best onjoyed in North Otago for many years, entries were not so numerous as in tho preceding few years, but the quality of. the exhibits showed tho effects of a bountiful season and competition generally was more evenly distributed. In tho sheep section Border Leicesters were well represented, the champion awards going to the estate of the late 11. Ruddenklau and G. P. Johnston, with T. S. Little prominent with other awards. 11. J. Andrew, tho prominent Maheno breeder, made a clean sweep of the awards in English Leicester* and Southdowns, as did C. R. Smith and Sons in the liomney Marsh section, J. F. Haylmrsfc (Temuk;i) in tho Ryelands section, and D. J. Rose (Hillgrove) in the Corriedale. In the fat sheep classes tho honours were shared by 11. S. Miller and G. Stevenson, the prime lamb awards going to F. Wharton and G. Stevenson and tho Canterbury ErSzen Meat Company, with a special to It. G. Allan*. Kennedy Bros, and E. Presland divided the prize money in the pigs. Competition in the cattle sections was excellent, most <i the classes being well filled with .six or more entries of the best quality. Simpson Bros, with Bushy Bark slock took all awards in Shorthorns, and I). J. Ross and J. R. Mitchell shared honours in Dairy Shorthorns. Gillies Bros. and Frew and Burdett provided splendid competition in the Ayrshires. Jersey and Friesian breeds were particularly well represented with T. Portis and P. AV. Shacklock prominent in the Jersey clnsses, and J. Temple, .7. .T. Stolt, and A. 11. Copland in tho Friosinns.

Miss Betty Harper added to her wonderful success in the show ring with Captain Murphv by securing the championship in the hack class, bringing her tally to about 122 firsts and -10 championships. In the, light horse class the championship went to Miss Nichol's King Carnival. Mrs T. P. Dalziel also added to her successes secured in the show ring by annexing the reserve championship in hacks with Chrysler, this bringing the number of her successes to 180 firsts and 40 championships.
