The Ministry for Labour estimates that at October 22 there were approximately 10,206,000 insured persons aged between 16 and 64 in employment in Britain. This is 37,000 fewer than the revised figure for the month before, but 279,000 more than a year before. The number of unemployed persons on the registers of employment exchanges in Britain at October 22 totalled 2,119,635. This was 37,648 more than the n .mber on September 26, 1934, but 179,118 less than a year before. The total last month comprised 1,700,784 men, 63,495 boys, 304,897 women, and 50,459 girls.
