DELEGATE TO PAN-PACIFIC CONFERENCE (PBKSS ASSOCIATIOM TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, October 15. Miss Ellen Melville, of Auckland, arrived back in New Zealand by the Makura. She was one of the delegates who represented the New Zealand Federation of Women's Clubs at the PanPacific Women's Conference at Honolulu, and she spent three months in California. . , , . . „„ She said the principal subjects considered at the conference were education health, industry, social science, and international relations. It was remarkable to discover how very similar they found each other's problems no matter to what race they belonged. The more conservative Democrats were viewing the progress of Mr Upton Sinclair with some apprehension. Thoughtful people were alarmed at the ,trend of his politics. SCHOOL COMMITTERS DANCE A successful dance was held by the Richmond School Committee in the schoolroom, about 100 guests being present. A statue dance was won by Miss K. Reid and partner, and a Monte Carlo dance by Mr D. Adcock and partner. Music was supplied by the Symphony Trio, and extras were played by Mrs Smith. Amongst those present were Mesdames J. J. Rowe, W. H. Simpson, N. Prangnell, W. Macbrayne, W. Elliot, Clothier, Fairweather, Cox, Armstrong, Richards, Hix, Smith. Blackwell, Murphy, Frost, Ansell, Russell, Hemmingsen. Cohen, Misses Reid, J.
