WATER SUPPLY SCHEME A large number of ratepayers paid a visit to the headwaters of Luke's creek, on Sunday, to inspect the intake site of the proposed water supply. All were much impressed with the flow of water at the gorge. Missionary Union At the meeting of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union, Mrs F Robertson presided over a good attendance. An interesting letter was received from the secretary of the Indian Mission, and it was decided to send a gift of money to the missionbox. A public meeting will be held tonight (Tuesday), when Colonel F W W. Dawson, Medical Officer ' of Health, will deliver an address in connexion with the proposed water supply. Basketball There was a large attendance at the Show Grounds to witness the school basketball tournament, and some splendid play was watched. Details are as follows: A Grade—Convent A 5, Kaikoura A 3; Suburban A 2, Hapuku 2. B Grade—Mahgamaunu 6, Kaikoura 4; Convent 2, Suburban 0. In the play-off A Grade v. B Grade Convent won. ' In the final game of the season, Captain v. vice-captain, the vice-captain's team won by one goal.
