Expensive Renegade has proved an expensive belling proposition, for he has failed badly several limes when heavily supported. prove with racing experience. He races in the nomination of Miss L. C. Guest and is trained at Addington by G. Mouritz. A New-Comer Lament, who figures amongst the acceptors for the Improvers' Handicap at New Brighton to-day, is owned by Messrs Clarkson and Graham, and i' trained at Russley road by M. Holmes. WAV BRIGHTON T.C.

TO-DA Y'S PROGRAMME The \i'w Brighton Trotting Club W ill hold another ol its popular fixtures on the seaside racecourse today, when good-sized fields should provide capital racing. One of the earliest of the .season's meetings, today's fixture has been awaited with interest, and the form shown should provide a good guide for more important engagements later. The course I- in almost perfect order for light harness racing, and its condition reflect. 1 ; credit on the caretaker and staff. The fields are of good average quality, and the appearance of several NewZealand Derby candidates will be watched with a good deal of interest. Two of these, in Moana Tama and Jronside, finished first and third respectively in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, and another meeting will give ,:ome idea of prospects of these horses in the three-year-old classics. The first race will be started at 12.15 p.m., and punctuality will be strictly observed in the running of the programme. which will be concluded at S p.m. A special service has been arranged by the C'nristchurch Tramway Board, and visitors to the meeting will be veil provided for in this respect. The day's programme is as follows:

ine iiem loi me improvers iianuicap includes several trotters that' have vet to make history, but have shown distinct promise in some of their engagements. Princess Onyx, is one of "he most promising young trotters raced in New Zealand, and is expected to win good races when more reasoned. At the Marlborough Trotting Club's mooting in July, Sonoma King won from a 3min 51sec mark, and now off 3mii\ 47sec he is still a possibility. Walter Wrack has speed above the average, but still a bit temoeramcntnl he may not show his best form. Header is useful, and the final i print may find Sonoma King, Header, and Princess Onyx in the places.

He handles a grass track well, and can stay. Gunmctal is a : good solid pacer that has not had the ! best of luck, and Golden Direct's track ' efforts show iiim to be near his best , form. Grand Finale will do well on J the New Brighton track, for he stav.-, I on. and handles a grass track well. ! William Tell, like Grand Finale, was a winner at the recent meeting at I Addington. and he won in a manner that suggests still better things to ■come. Hailing from Southland, lie l is no stranger to grass tracks. Erin's f Princess is hardly reliable, and 110j thing in Jolly Wave's recent form sug- ; gests a victory. Worthy King is at I his best, and Harold Denver will go j a good honest race. Rey Spec will be i one of the well-fancied division, and ; a good pacer that has raced with bad 1 luck must be considered. The finish may find Grand Finale, Rev Spec, and ! Smoke Screen in the places. i 5.20 p.m.

(juiui'u i. ri's.s sor \uin„- lr;i\,s ■'■ j The Seaview Handicap will pm\ide j a race between a fast improving nuir:I ber of pacers, and it should provide, i one of the best contests on the card. ; Bidc-a-Wee won over a mile and a •half at the Marlborough meeting i.\ very impressive style, and she is entitled to solid support in (his rac". Blandford and Blondie arc two yuiina pacers with a good future, and Eddystone has shown his ability on grass tracks. Ezywurk is likely to be belter supported than when he won al 1 the Hunt meeting at Riecarton. and ! both Lone Derby and .Sky Wink | have shown form (hat warrants sup--1 port. Wink Eye and Colene Parrish j have performed well on grass track". j end Camera is a genuine pacer. In Agile G. S. Smith will drive a reliable gelding in the Dash Handicap, and from ihe front mark h<? ..ru.u!'' be prominent throughout. The .journey of one mile will suit him nicely, and off the same mark Rey Direct is

on*; likely !u 'rouble him. Bct'.v Wrack is genuine, and Morello will have a chance to atone for several disappointments. Elvo may be one of the favourites, and in what should be a fast race Agile. Elvo, and Betty Wrack should fill the places.

Fro:;] 3G yards behind in the Spring Handicap, Sea Gift is likely to be a short-priced favourite for the Spring Handicap. She 1.5 not a quick beginner, but she is a rare stayer, and a good, even trotter. Germanieus, now in C. S. Donald's stable, would need to improve on his best form to have a chance, and the best of the front markers may be Silk Coat. Resound, on 12 yards behind, should beat Ruin, whose most recent form has not been good, but Explosion is set a big task from 144 raids behind. Sea Gift should be the favourite, with Silk Coat and Rewound possibilities.

Cloudy fiance showed winning form at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's August meeting, and this running entitle:- him to support hi the Wainoni Handicap, of a mile and a quarter. A consistent pacer in. Stir..-? is also engaged, and she should make amends for the ill-fortune that dogged her at the Addington meeting. Cloudy Range, Sure, and Tempest should share the prize money.

Holmes luis the; rifle on Betty Wrack she will be lirst choice on the tokulisaior She has previously Fhowir her ability with the weight up, and looks a distinct possibility.
