BUDGETARY POSITION IN BRITAIN

Exchequer returns show that tho '•"tal ordinary revenue collected last week amounted to £ 10,411,267, *nd ordinary expenditure incurred '■ v -s £6,545,951. As compared with last year, receipts into the Treasury arc welJ i maintained. I Inland revenue for the current financial year up to August 25 amounted to £92,628,000, while on '-he corresponding date of last year the total was £89,720,800. j Income-tax receipts represent a lar//e item in this figure and amount £44,208,000. This is an increase £6,580,000 on last year's figures. Receipts from estate duties to f| ate at. 05,040,000. are, however, nore than £3,000,000 lower than at the corresponding date last year. Customs and excise receipts, 'which during the current financial year have so far yielded £115,969,000 are more than £2,000,000 higher than at the corresponding date of 1933. Excluding self-balancing revenue, total ordinary revenue from all sources for the period April 1 to August 25 of the current year amounts to £228,416,413, as compared with £ 232,205,529 received by the Exchequer in the corresponding Period of 1933. Total ordinary expenditure date is £271,093,284. the comparative figure for last, vear being £268,816,156.
