ARANUI SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE Mr E. A. Rowlands presided over the monthly meeting of the Aranui School Committee held -last evening. Others present were—Mesdames E. G. Beardsley and J. Roberts, Messrs A. C. Boyd, and G. Millar. A resolution expressing sympathy with Mr G. K. MeCaw in the death of his son was carried. In reply to the committees request, the secretary of the Canterbury Education Board advised that consideration of the application for carrying out the following work had been deferred pending the submission of a report by the board's foreman:—(a) Painting of. woodwork in brick school: (b) repair of guttering in brick school; (c) oiling of south-west wall in brick school. A further letter from the Education Board advised that the board's foreman had been asked to report on the committee's application for .the erection of,a shelter over the wash-basin recently provided and the erection of a small bicycle shed. Mrs Beardsley reported that the committee could not withdraw from the dental clinic unless instructions to do so were received from a householders' meeting. Mrs Beardsley and Mr Millar were appointed a visiting committee for September. ± „ , It was decided to grant the use of the basketball grounds on Saturday afternoons to the Aranui Girls Club.
