WHEAT ACREAGE
I AMERICAN ATTITUDE (DlttilSU OFFICIAL WlitKI.ESd.) (Received August 17, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, August 16. The American Ambassador (Mr R. W. Bingham) presided at a meeting at the Board of Trade of the wheat advisory committee. A communique issued states that the United States delegation reported that the failure of this year's crops, following on the poor crop of the previous year, had greatly modified the reasons which led the United States administration to adopt acreage reduction in order to improve the position of the American wheat farmer. The United States Government was prepared to take the necessar steps to prevent the area sown in wheat from rising above the level to which it had been reduced this year, provided that other countries were ready to continue a general effort to adjust wheat production to the demand. The delegation added that the reduction in acreage brought about in the United States had been of sufficient magnitude to represent at average yields over the last 10 years, about 100,000,000 bushels of wheat. ! ; [ ;
