Labour (action in the Federal Par- ! : liamenl, delivered a policy address i Int the Glebe Town Hall to-night. He said the party intended to aim at banking reform, limiting the activities of banking companies and regulating the method of making 'credit available, at the restoration 'of pensions and public servants' ; salary cuts, and at expansion of the ! social services. I There would be a vigorous public ! works campaign, financec. by loans, and an honest attempt .o aid the ■wheat farmers to obtain a better : price for wheat without making ' bread dearer. Efforts would be mac! • to give 1 farmers relief Com Ihoir debts, al the same time placing wheat growing on a better basis. Reafforestation would be tackled along national lines, as would th*. development of | Northern Australia to ensure closer settlement ai.U the oppor- | tunity of acquiring small holdings ■ at low interest rates. Immediate attention would be , given to producing oil from shale ■ and coal in order to relieve the distress resulting from unemployment , in the coalfields. "Our party," added Mr Beasley, "will seek the restoration of wage | rates' and price levels, and the stabilisation of primary products a' . guaranteed minimum prices above ■ the costs of production; also orderly [marketing under the control of the j producers themselves, devoid of midIdlemen and financed by the Comijmonwealth Bank.
