GOLF The extra medal match for women players, which was to have been held at Diamond Harbour on Saturday, has been postponed until next Saturday. Stroke matches for men and women players, over 18 holes, will be held on Saturday afternoon for cups presented by the president, Mr R. Y. Clow. On Sunday a mixed foursome bogey match will bo held. The Lyttelton Ladies' Golf Club will hold a match at Charteris Bay links on Sunday, for a trophy presented by Miss C. Williams. High School Social An enjoyable function, the annual social and dance at which pupils of the secondary department of the Lyttelton District High School entertain former pupils, was held last evening. In former years the social was held in another hall, but the increase in numbers of both present and past pupils resulted in the committee arranging for the function this year in the club hall. The attendance was about 150. The following pupils' committee curried out the arrangements:—Misses Olga Dyne, Joan Brown, Louise Rees, Gwen Glasson, Messrs G. Matthews, R, Miller, W. Foubister, L. Sales, and C. Lewis. Dance music was provided by Mrs G. Brooke, extras being played by Mr D. Zander. Competitions were held, the winners being Misses Jean Dowdle, and Betty Brooke, Mrs McLean, Messrs E. Swain, and George Hillier. Songs were given by Miss Caroline Small. Those present included the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) and Mrs Lester, Mr A. F. Barrell (headmaster), Misses M A. Moyle and J. Macintosh, and Messrs R. B. Blake and L. A. D. Hayman (teachers), the Rev. F. Tylee, Messrs L. G. Matthews, Mr and Mrs G. Brooke Mr and Mrs S. Cording, Mr and Mrs A, T. E. Miller, Mr and Mrs M. Smith, Mesdames A. T. E. Miller, C.
