LODGE MEETINGS
The Noble Brand, Bro. E. Tomlinson, presided over a good attendance of members at the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge, M.U.. 1.0.0. F. Several sisters from tthe Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge attended the meeting rind were welcomed by the Noble Grand. Sister M. Small suitably responded on their behalf. A letter from the Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge invited members to attend the annual dance of that lodge, which is to be held on Wednesday. September 5. One new candidate having been proposed for membership, and accepted by the lodge in due form, was initiated into the lodge and order, P.G. Bro. N. Carson acting as lecture master. Si.'k payments to members, amounting to £aTi U!s. and other accounts, etc. (J-7IJ 17s 8d), were passed for payment. At the close of the meeting an entertainment in the form of a gramophone evening, was provided by P.G. Bro. N. Carson, a feature of which was the presentation of the abridged recording of "The Gondoliers." Several other recordings, both novel and instructive, were presented. The members of Court Woodford of Kaiapoi Foresters visited the Belfast Court and officers at its half-yearly meeting', and conducted the installation of officers, P.C.R. Bro. W. McPnrtin being installing officer and P.C.R. Bro. C. Harper marshal for the ceremony. The following were the. officers installed:—C.R.. Bro. F. Ashby; 1.P.C.R., Bro. A. E. Clarke: S.C.R., Bro. Ray Stead; S.W.. Bro. D. McArthur, jun.; J. 8., Bro. 11. Roxburgh; 5.8., Bro. G. HassalU J.8.P.C.R,. Bro. G. Lange; minute secretary and treasurer. P.C.R. Bro. W. Sellars: secretary, P.D.C.R. Bro. Rudkin; management committee, P.C.R.'s Bros. E. H. Ashby. A. E. Clarke. D. C. McArthur, G. Lange. together with the secretary, treasurer, and the trustees; P.C.R.'s. J. Halligan, W. G. Brown, and W. Price. J.P.C.R. Bro. A. E. Clarke presented P.C.R. Bro. Brown with a fountain pen suitably inscribed in recognition of his having served a double term as C.lt, of the court. Arch Druid Bro. J. T. Harrington presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Ivy of Linwood Lodge,. Included in a large attendance were officers and members of the Trafalgar Lodge (Kaiapoi), Bud of Hope Lodge (Rangiora). and Hope of Amberley. The social committee reported on arrangements made for a social to be held on September 17, the proceeds to be in aid of the Ivy of Linwood juvenile funds. The members of the Christchurch Working Men's Club orchestra attended the function and presented a programme of music, song, and story.
