Ruby Hooker, aged j 28, hurriedly left by the back door, j She entered a stranger's, house, helped herself to an overcoat to cover her: bright dress, and sixpence from a i money-box for her tram fare, then led tne detectives on a chase to South Dunedin, where she was captured this morning. She admitted in the Magistrate's Court charges of stealing, in September, last year, blankets from the Young Women's Christian Association. The police stated that accused had appeared in the Christchurch court on a charge of theft, and had since assumed the false name of Rita Brown, because she was on probation for that offence.
