LOW WAGES IN GERMANY
«■ AVERAGE OF ONLY TWENTYSIX SHILLINGS (Received June 22, 11.50 p.m.) BERLIN,.June 22. The Labour return reveals that one-third of all German workers receive less than 19s 3d a week, and one-third less than £ 1 8s lOd. The average is £1 6s 2|d, from which substantial social and other contributions are deducted. Metal workers are the best paid, their average wages being £1 12s lid a week. Tobacco workers average only 13s 6d a week.
