In a bright and entertaining-wrest-ling bout here this evening, Dean Detton defeated Wong Buk Cheung, j the latter being unable to continue the contest alter the seventh round, in which he was dumped after a series of headlocks and an aeroplane spin. SHIKINA J For the first time this season, Dr. Fred* Meyer, of U.S.A., will wrestle Oki Shikina, of Japan, at'St. James' Theatre, on Wednesday evening. Both these Wrestlers' have displayed exceptional form this season, each having been defeated on only one occasion, and both will no doubt be keen to obtain the victory at their first encounter. Meyer; "who has been nicknamed" "the big bad wolf" of wrestling, has an excellent overseas record' to' uphold, including a victory over Stanley Pinto and a draw with Gus Sonnenburg, while his recent drawn match with George Walker is further evidence of his calibre. The stocky Japanese made a very favourable impression on his first appearance here. The four amateur preliminaries will be the best since the inception of the association, and as amateurs are now permitted to employ all professional holds except hammerlocks and the Boston crab they alone should be well worth seeing. "Snowy" Lloyd, who is now fit again, will meet Gordon Mowat in a long-awaited match, while Ken Asher will be matched • against Dave Whillians, who comes from Auckland with an excellent record. Those popui lar light-weights, Sam Todd and Trevor Berland, will again meet, while-"Che remaining match will be between Bill Mitchell and Vera Thomas. All tickets, including reserves, are now available at Lange's, United Service Buildings. Doors will open at 7 p.m., from which time the lanthe Orchestra will be in attendance.
