LODGE MEETINGS
A meeting of Court Star of Canterbury, No. 2309, A.0.F., was held in the Foresters' Hall, Oxford terrace, Chief Ranger Hro. G. W. Calvert presiding. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Bro. G. J. Armitage was carried in silence. The woodward's report oil the sick at present on the funds was received and sick pay passed for payment. One candidate was initiated into the order by the chief ranger, assisted by Bro. S. E. Browne, I.P.C.R. The secretary was requested to forward a letter of sympathy to Bro. E. Rudkin, P.D.C.R., in his illness, offering best wishes for a speed recovery. The fortnightly meeting of Ridgely Lodge was held in Ridgely Hall, N.G. Bro. E. J. Cross presiding over a good attendance. A motion of sympathy was passed with Bro. H. Barter in his recent bereavement. It was resolved that the officers and members pay an official visit to the juvenile lodge on July 13. Two candidates were proposed for membership. It was agreed that a letter be sent to Linwood Lodge and to Bro. A. Townsend, congratulating him on having attained his 47 years' veteran's jewel. The noble grand reported on the visit of the Daphne and Hakatere Lodges at Ashburton. • The meeting of the Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., on Thursday, was very well attended. Visitors were also present from the Loyal Progress Lodge, Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge, and a member, from the Hawke's Bay district. Correspondence was received from the Loyal Timaru Lodfje stating that September 22 would be a suitable date for the lodge to pay a week-end visit, and this date was agreed upon.
