♦ ANNUAL MEETING IN LONDON The one hundred and thirtieth annual meeting of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held at the Queen's Hall, London, on May 2. In the unavoidable absence of the president, his Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught, the chair was taken by the Earl of At'nlone. In his address he said there had been an advance all along the line, an advance in circulation, an advance in expenditure, and a corresponding advance in income, so that there was a credit balance of nearly £7OO. He added that during the 130 years of its existence the society had issued more than 453.000,000 copies of the Scriptures and had spent £24,000,000. During the last 12 months the Scriptures had been translated into 11 new languages, making the total number G7B. , . _ _ The Rev. Arthur H. Wilkinson, 8.D., one of the society's secretaries, reported that nearly 11,000,000 copies of the Bible had been distributed during the last year. The Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.D., at one time minister of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Chrislchurch, who is now the Commonwealth secretary of the Bible Society, gave an address in which ho ti'aced the history of the society in Australia. In 24 different languages the Bible was circulated last year amongst the different peoples who are living in the northern region of Australia, lie said.
