ANNUAL MEETING SOUTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION (BPBCIAX. TO THE PRISS.) MIDDLEMARCH, June 22. The annual meeting of the South Island Dog Trial Association was held at Middlemarch, the president (Mr R. W. Trotter) being in the chair There was a large attendance of delegates from the various provincial associations. The president welcomed the new delegates to the association, after which a discussion took place on the question of the allocation of the Crosbie Cup, and it was decided, on the motion of Mr C. Parker (Otago), that no trophy which was not open for competition by all-comers be accepted at championship meetings. The secretary, Mr J. Trotter, was deputed to represent the Association at the Marlborough dog trials, with a view to having the clubs in that district amalgamated with the association. Several alterations to the existing rules were suggested and approved, but it was decided not to incorporate the present rules until the association was on a sounder footing. The Southland delegate (Mr A. T. Miller) moved that the winning of a local maiden or novice event should not have any bearing on the status of a maiden competitor at recognised meetings. The motion was carried. It was also decided, on Mr Miller's motion, seconded by Mr Parker, that the score card be abolished, but that the present system of points be adhered to. Mr H. E. Fincham (Canterbury) moved that the present programme of
the South Island Dog Trial Association be considered as the standard, and that it be a recommendation to clubs that it shoul'd be the standard for all provincial championships. The motion was carried. It was also decided that the members of clubs not affiliated to an association be disqualified from competing at trials conducted by the associations. The allocation of future championships was discussed, and it was decided that the fixtures be given to Canterbury, Southland, Marlborough, and Otago, in that order. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr R. W. Trotter (Kurow); vice-presidents, Messrs John Anderson (Kurow), R. M. D. Johnson (Canterbury), and J. B. Purdue (Southland); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Trotter (Kurow); executive, Messrs A. T. Miller and A. D. Finlayson (Southland), C. Parker and H". E. Fineham (Canterbury), and W. G. Thomson and G.
