BURWOOD NOTES
ALL SAINTS' CHURCH A meeting of women to arrange for the raising of funds for All Saints' Church, Burwood. was held at the vicarage on Thursday afternoon. Mrs N. G. Garland presided. Others present were Mesdames J. Liggins, J. Martin, Sherman, Shand, Nicholson, Hobbs, Lisle, Clax-ke, Botherway, and Frizzell. It was decided to hold a bring and buy fair and a social evening on July 3 in the Parish Hall. The admission will be a gift or a charge of sixpence. In addition to stalls there will be a programme of vocal items and community singing and dancing, followed by supper. It was also decided to hold a bazaar and garden party in the vicarage grounds in October. The stall-holders were appointed as follows:—Produce, Mesdames J. Martin, R. Reaby, and Shand; sweets, Mrs S. Walker; cakes, Mesdames Sherman, Botherway, and Frizzell; work, Mesdames G. Johnson. Hobbs and Nurse; refreshments, Mesdames Clark, Wetherall, Bampton, and Miss Dixon; variety, Mesdames Liggins, Garland, Frizzell, an . Lisle; icecream, Mrs C. Johnston and friend; Aunt Sally, the boys. There will also be nail driving competitions and a treasure hunt. Progressive Association A meeting of the newly-elected social committee of the Burwood Progressive Association was held last evening to arrange social gatherings. Mr H. Reaby presided. Others present were Messrs J. Liggins, G. Robinson, E. Currie, J. Green, W. Mitchell, L. Goodman, F. Reaby, and J. Byers (secretary). It was decided to hold flag 500 and dance evenings in the parish hall alternately with the school euchre evenings. In view of the tennis club's annual dance being held on June 28 it was decided to hold flag 500 only on June 30.
