MILK PRODUCTS

CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE CONSUMPTION OFFER BY MANUFACTURERS' FEDERATION The following statement hSs been issued by the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation: — Some time ago an offer was made by the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation to assist the dairying industry in any campaign which might be launched to increase the consump--1 tion of milk, cream, and cheese in the Dominion. This offer is now repeated. Manufacturers are willing in each city to issue leaflets and pamphlets to their own employees, and to ask their employees to assist in distributing such leaflets amongst the public outside. They are willing also to exhibit posters, etc., in offices and factories; to arrange for addresses to workers by medical men and others, urging the importance of milk products from a health standpoint; and to organise propaganda through the wholesale and retail firms with which they have business relations. This, it is suggested, should constitute the manufacturers' share of a general campaign to be conducted jointly by the dairy farmers' organisation, the manufacturers, the health authorities, the press, and advertising agencies, all of which would be invited to participate on the basis of each bearing the expense of its own allotted share of the work. A joint committee representing all the participating organisations would direct the general campaign, and executive sub-committees would be set up in all cities and towns throughout the Dominion. The Manufacturers' Federation is handing a copy of this statement and offer to (a) the Prime Minister, (b) the Dairy Commission, (c) the Dairy Board, (d) the National Dairy Conference, and (e) ihe Newspaper Proprietors' Association. If favourable replies are received. it is proposed that the Prime Minister shall be asked to convene a meeting of all bodies which are willing to participate in the campaign.
