RICHMOND SCHOOL SITE

OFFER FOR £2250 TO COUNCIL

The proposal for the Christchurch City Council to secure the site of the old Richmond school for a playground area controlled by the city was again considered by the council at a meeting held last night. A letter was considered from the Minister for Education, the Hon. R. Masters, making an offer of the site for £2250. The letter from the Minisler for Education stated that lie had received a special valuation which placed the unimproved value of the area at £2250. Because of that valuation he was prepared to offer the area to the council for £2250 on condition that the amount was paid forthwith and on condition that the area is reserved for the exclusive use of children of the district. The letter was referred to th» finance committee.
