"YOUTH FOR CHRIST* CAMPAIGN
REPLY TO STATEMENT OF CANON TERRY
The views expressed by the Rev. Canon Charles Perry in his sermon at St. Michael's, on Sunday, regarding the inability of parishioners of St. Michael's to join in the "Youth for Christ" campaign without disloyalty to their own church, is commented on by the executive of th» "Youth for Christ" campaign as follows: "Lest some doubt should arise in the minds of Church of England people generally, the executive thought it desirable to give the actual figures concerning the churches associated with the campaign. Of the Churches of England we know of two only that are definitely not associated, St. Luke's and St. Michael'?., while arrangements have yet to be made with five other parishes. Those associated definitely with the campaign and actively working number 23, so it will be seen that the very large majority of the Churches of England are definitely associated with the Youth for Christ Movement at present being conducted in the city. "Furthermore, the Anglican Boys' Bible Class Union, of the Christchurch Diocese, is also definitely committed to support it, as is also the Anglican Girls' Bible Class Union. In addition to all this the bishop himself has given the campaign his blessing and in his letter to the "Church News" (the official organ of the Church of England) concludes his reference to the movement with the following words: "It is a great adventure in co-operative witness and I would ask for it the prayers and sympathy of th« church."
