BOOKS FOR RELIEF CAMPS
In response to a request by the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), the Boy Scouts Association has drawn lip a scheme for the collections of books to be sent to the single men's unemployment relief camps. Mr W. H. Montgomery, metropolitan commissioner of the Boy Scouts' Association, has advised Mr Sullivan that it is proposed that each group committee shall arrange for the collection of books and forward them to Major G, F. Dry, of the Salvation Army. It is intsnded to stamp the books, "Collected by Boy Scouts." The Mayor said yesterday that he was particularly pleased to have the help of the Boy Scouts' Association in gathering books for the voung men in the distant camp;, as they were having a very unhappy time isolated from all the amenities of life.
