BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES
THREE AUCKLAND RIDERS NOMINATED
The nominations of three Auckland cyclists for the New Zealand team for the British Empire Games were received yesterday by Mr H. D. London, secretary to the New Zealand Cycling Federation. The nominations arc:— M. P. Byrnes (Auckland). U. R. Dwight (Auckland). L. 11. Dwight (Auckland). The nominations previously received were those of F. J. Grose and G. R. B. Giles, both of Canterbury. A bond for £4O covering the expenses of Byrnes in the event of his being selected, has been received by the federation. The cycling events at the British Empire Games will be: 1000 yards sprint, 1000 metres time trial, 10 miles sprint. Entries for each race are limited to one rider from each country. The nominations will be considered by the federation on Tuesday, but the t'mal selection rests with the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association. The New Zealand contingent for the games will leave on June 7.
