YESTERDAY'S TRANS A CTIONS
The outstanding feature on call yesterday was tho activity in Mahakipawa Goldfields shares at hardening prices. Markets on the whole were firm, but recorded dealings were restricted to a few stocks. Transactions, exclusive of vestibule business, were:— Sales on 'Change £ s. d.
Stocks anil Kanlts New Zealand Government 3 : '. per cent. Stock, due 1939-43, changed hands at £lO2 15s. market cloaing £lO2 buyer-:. £lOls 10s sellers. Union Bank of Australia were lirni at £lO 2s, market closing £lO Is buyers, £lO 2s Gd sellers. Bank of New South Wales were easier with sellers at £32 15s. buyers at £32. Miscellaneous Goldsbrough, Moris moved up to 34s Gd, 34s f!d, and 34s 7d, closing ((notations 34s Td buyers, 34s 9d sellers. United Building Society were firm al 1.9s Gd. and late offers of 19s 5d failed lo attract sellers. New Zealand Refrigerating. 10s paid, had dealings at 7: (id. pollers stayin;; in at that price, buyers at 7s sd. CHristrhurch Gas were firmer on buyers' offers. "9s sd. New Zealand Breweries moved up to lis 7d and 41s 9d, and more were | wanted at 41s 3d. sellers at 41s lid. i Tooth's were firm with buyers at 44s 4d, sellers at 44s 7d. ! Dunlop Rubbers relapsed lo liis Bd, sellers slaying in at that figure, buyers at 18s 7d. Moturoa Oil had business at 3s Gd, and more were wanted at 3s 3d. Mount Lyells were fractionally weaker with dealings at 245, and further pollers at 24s Id. Rural Bonds! were dealt in at £IOO 15s. | Mining ! Brian Boru. cum dividend, changed j hands at 39s and 39s 3d, and these j were buyers' and sellers' closing quotations respectively. Central Shotover, 9d paid, were firm with .sellers and business at lOd. buyers at 9'.d Gillespie's Beach had dealings at Is! 3d and Is BJd, and there were further' buyers at. the higher price. Kins Solomons wore steady at 4s Gd. Lawson's j Flat eased to sd. Mahikipaw'a were firmer with dealings in the ordinary at 7d and Bd. and in the preference | al Is Ud. New Cornish Point. Gd | paid, had dealings at Gd and fi-UI. and i more were wanted at Ihe higher price. Okarltos were dealt in at 8s fid, fjs 7d. and 8s Gd. market closing 8s 5d buyers. 8s 7d sellers. Rawang Tin, cum dividend, were a shade easier at !ls Id. A late sale of Waitahu on Saturday was reported at 4s 7d. and business yesterday was at 4s Gd, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at 4s sd. A late sale of Skippers on Saturday <"9d paid) was reported at lOd, and business yesterday was also at that price.
