MR D. COCHRANE
The death has occurred at Invercargill of Mr David Cochrane, who was for 34 years associated with the Southland Frozen Meat Company, Ltd. At the time of his'retirement in 1928 he was secret ;« - y and manager of the company.
Mr Cochrane was born in Stirling, Scotland, and came to New Zealand 50 years ago. He settled at Greymouth. where he was employed for five years with Martin, Kennedy, and Co., general merchants. He then went to Christchurch to manage the business of the Grey Valley Coal Co.*> but on that linn's amalgamation with the Westport. Coal Co. lie accepted a position as accountant to the Southland Frozen Meat Co. That was in 1094. and it was not till 1928 that Mr Cochrane"* active association with the company ceased. From accountant he was promoted to secretary, and later held the position of both secretary and manager.
He was a foundation member of the Invercargill Golf Club, and later joined Hie Queen's Park Club, of which he was elected a life member a few years ago. He was also a foundation and life member of the Invercargill Bowling Club. He was one of the founders of the New Zealand Auditors' Association.
