CHIEF SCOUT'S ELDER DAUGHTER
The engagement is announced o£ the Hon. Heather Baden-Powell, elder daughter of Lord Barien-Powell, the chief scout, and Lady Baden-Powell. She is to marry Mr G. E. L LcnnoxBoyd eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. W. Lcnnox-Boyd, of Broadlcy House, Sway, Hants, and brother of Mr A. T. Lennox-Boyd, M.P. for Mid-Bcdtord-shire The marriage will take place at Bentley in May. The bride-elect is a girl oi 18, possessing her fathers artistic ability. She is a talented sculptor. Botn Miss Baden-Powell and "her financee are enthusiastic members of" the girl guide and boy scout movements. Miss Baden-Powell, who accompanied her father, the chief scout, on his South African tour, was a brownie, a girl guide, and a cadet while at school at St. James's. West Malvern. She and Mr Lennox-Boyd first met at a raliy in Bedfordshire last summer, when tne latter was on leave ironi his battalion in the Highland Light Infantry.

DANCE AT TAI TAPU The annual dance of the Tai Tapu Basketball Club, held in the hall on Friday evening, proved very successful. The stage and hall had been decorated in blue and white, the club's colours. Under the direction of Miss Jessie Wood (secretary) an energetic committee had made complete arrangements for the comfort and entertainment of the guests. Ashby's band supplied the music, and Mr R. SCOL'T DANCE The New Brighton boy scouls gave u dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday, Miss Maisie Ottoy's orchestra providing the music. Mr R. R. Aitkcn (scoutmaster) was master of ceremonies. The lucky spot dance was won by Miss E. Carney and Mr J. Gibson and the Monte Carlo dance by Miss Jean Conyers and Mr R. J. Moses. The arrangements were carried out by Mesdamcs J. Bellamy, F. Blewitt. Sprosen, and Messrs D. S. Turner, S. Underhay, and E. Palmer. Among those present were Mesdamcs A. C. Bellamy R. R. Aitken, F. Wigg. L. I. L. Smith, and G. McAleer, Misses G. Bellamy, N.
