Case (21), A. L. Smith (31) beat W. Slccman (29), A. Hedges (25) beat S. Jones (23). Card Evenings The Papanui Horticultural Society held a "flag 500" evening on Wednesday at the Memorial Hall. The players at the table with the highest score were Mrs Biggs, Mrs Spiers, and Miss Miller, while the second highest were Mrs Wilson. Mrs Keith, and Mr R. Lillcy. Consolation prizes were won by Mr and Mrs D. Roberts and Mrs W. W. Taylor. There was a good attendance at the weekly card evening of the Advance Northcote Association. The winners were Mrs Harding and Mr E. Fielding. Northcote Cricket Club The Northcote Cricket Club has concluded a very successful season. One player was chosen for the third grade representative team to play Ashburton. During the Easter holidays a team went to Methven and played a return match with the Methven Cricket Club. Mr Owen, who welcomed the visitors,

said he hoped the matches would be an annual fixture. Papanui Theatre "The Devil is Driving," which will be at. the Papanui Theatre to-night, fully lives up to its unusual title. The story is set against the background of a city garage, the principal purpose of which is to serve as a "blind" for an organised gang of motor thieves who trade in stolen cars and run a luxurious night ciub. The "shorts" include a news reel, a Mack Sennctt comedy, a sports reel, and screen song.
