GERALDINE CLUB
The opening of the Geraldine District Golf Club was held on Saturday afternoon in good playing conditions. There was a very large attendance of members and visitors from the surrounding clubs. The president (Mr G. N. Feilden) declared the season open and an eighteen holes mixed foursome competition was played, which resulted as follows: Gross. Hep. Net. Mrs E. P. Bennett and D. J. The New Zealand Golf Association, at a'special meeting to-day, decided to hold the 1934 championships at Wanganui, commencing on October 12. TOURNAMENT AT AUGUSTA HORTON SMITH WINS FIRST PRIZE (I'N-ITKD PKESS ASSOCIATION —Br ELECTRIC TKi.r.ouAru —corvßianT.) AUGUSTA (GEORGIA), March 25. Horton Smith won the first prize of 1500 dollars at the golf tournament here with 284. Bobby Jones made par fi«ure* 72, over the last 18 holes, but his total was 294. which left him in a tic for the thirteenth place.
