The subject was introduced by Mr j C. 11. Elisor, who moved that the association eo-opcrate with the Sheep : Owners' Union in an endeavour to | have revised the regulations governing the dipping of sheep. He said that under the regulations a farmer : had to dip his sheep whether they ! -had ticks or nut. That was unfair in his opinion. He claimed to have found a dip which killed the lick ■ egg. ; Mr \V. K. McAlpino. seconding the ; motion, said that the investigation • of dipping was vitally important, i Mr A. Leslie, veterinarian at CanI terbury Agricultural College. LmI coin, explained that the college | would have little difficulty in maki ing a complete investigation of dips jif financial backing was given iiy j interested organisations. Already | the college had made definite headj way in investigation, but the bar to ; final success was lack of finance Perhaps one uf the most important points requiring definition was what constituted a dip and what should a dip contain. In dips to-day there | was too much variation and some were unsatisfactory. Similar difficulties had been experienced in Groat Britain. The time of dipping was also important in deciding results. Experience proved that the general time for dipping according to prcsI ent practice was a little early. : The motion was carried unani- ' mously.
