FRANCE AND DISARMAMENT
I'KS-i.MisTic vii;\v or i.atbst NO IK LONDON. M;uvh lil. Tin' French attitude toward the British memorandum en disarmament is discussed in a note which wa s handed this afternoon to Sir John Simon (Secretary of State for Foreign Allah's) by the French Ambassador (M. Charles Corbm). The Pans correspondent of the "Daily Mail" says the note asserts that German rearmament will lie completed by April Hi. Most quarters in Paris believe Die note is the death-knell of the attempts to patch up an agreement. Berlin newspapers bluntly warn France that the German note of March 17. which suggested a five years' truce or partial disarmament over a longer period, but stated that Germany would in no circumstances consent to a continuar.ee of the Versailles restrictions, is llerr Hitler's last word on the arms issue, and that if it does not bring a settlement Germany will go ahead with a good conscience.
