TEMPLETON The £rst annual meeting ol t.ie Templeton Women's Institute was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, there being a J air attendance of members. The vice-president. Mrs R. Humphreys, was in the chair, the president, Mrs H. B. Kissel, being absent owing to sickness. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs H. B. Kissel; vicepresidents, Mrs R. Humphreys and Mrs \V. Smith: honorary secretary, Miss M. Bennett: treasurer, Mrs R. Johnston; committee, Mesdames C. Voice, G. Hensliaw, C. Jeffs (with power to addj. ORARI The fifth annual meeting of the Orari Women's Institute was held in the Orari Hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs G. A. M. Macdonald, president, presided. New members elected were Mesdames Johnston. Gabites, W. E. Payne, and Miss Gabites. Mrs S. R. Muff and Miss Woolley were appointed delegates to attend the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Federation at Graldine in April. The election of ihe new executive committee resulted:—Mesdames G. A M. Macdonald. D. Bennett, H. A. Brenton. W. E. Cook, J. B. Cone. W. Hughes. C. H. E. Gerard, O'Brien, Misses S. Grimscy. and K. Muff. Mesdames H. Wade and W. Smith were added at the committee meeting which followed. Mrs Macdonald was unanimously reelected president. A demonstration on silk lamp shade making was given by Mrs Pocock, Geraldine. Community singing conducted by Mrs S. Unwin was a feature of the meeting. Arrangements were made for the holding of the institute birthday party, the date being set down for April 27. The president referred to the recent earthquake in the North Island, and it was arranged to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs Patterson, president of the Pahiatua Women's Institute, and offer any help that might be needed. WILLOWBRIDGE Mrs Curtis presided at ihe monthly meeting of the Willowbridge Women * Institute. The competition, "'something new from something old." was won by Miss McGowan. It was agreed that the articles be sent to the Plunket nurse at Waimate. The best bloom competition resulted in a win for Mrs W Smith, with Mrs J. Colville second and Miss Knight, third. The hostesses ior the afternoon were Mesdames Fletcher and Colville and Misses Fyail and Hollamby.
