The monthly committee meeting of the Lyttelton sub- | branch of the Plunket Society was held in the rooms, the following members being present: Mrs Gilmour (in the chair), Mesdames Buchanan. Sutton, Preston, Comer, Shepneid, Plimmer, Maher, Wilson. Stanley. Rhind, and Chrisp. . An invitation was received from the Christchurch branch for members to attend a meeting in the Canterburj Automobile Association rooms, Worcester street, next week. Preliminary arrangements were made for the annual May Day party to be held at the end of April. Nurse Twcntyman's report for work done in the Lyttelton, Heathcote. Akaroa and Duvauchelle districts was as follows:—Visits to Rooms: Lyttelton, adults 80, babies 73, seven pre-school children, and live new cases. Heathcote: Adults 19, babies 15, and six preschool children. Akaroa: Adults lb. babies 16. one pre-school child, three new cases. Duvauchelle: Adults 14, babies 16, one pre-school child. Two letters of advice had been sent to Akaroa, and nine telephone messages to Duvauchelle. Home visits had included live new cases anu 35 old cases. SI'MNER COMMITTEE The regular meeting of the Sumner Plunket Committee was held in the Sumner Town Hall. Mrs A. \V. Beavcn presided, the members present beint,' Mesdames Waller. Crawshaw, Wethey. Sim, and Miss Overton. Apologies were received from Mesdames A. Morten, T. Newburg'h, and S. Gibbs. Mrs Morten wrote stating that she intended to hold a young people's dance at her home in April, the proceeds to be given to the Plunket Funds. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of appreciation to Nurse Aitken who had been obliged to give [ up her work in the Sumner-RedclitTs district. The nurse's report showed that the visits to the Sumner roms were:— Adults 46. babies 40. other children 7. Visits to homes 10, telephone calls 1. number of new cases 1. In Kedclifls the figures were: Adults 10, babies 14, other children 1. SHAMROCK CARNIVAL DANCE KERRY ROAD HALL, TO-NHiHT This St. Patrick's Day at the Ferry Road Hall, the Christchurch Dance Assembly will hold a •'Shamrock" oldtime carnival. Jackson's Old-time Land will feature popular Irish melodic?, including "Dear Little Shamrock." "When Irsh Eye:; Are Smiling.' and "Come Lack to Erin." Pupils irmn Miss Lottv Naylor's school of dancing will entertain with a shamrock ballet. | A snccial programme has been arranijed for dancers, the attractions being as follows:—Cash Monte Carlo, lucky number schottische. miniature Monte Carlo, supper ticket contest, and a women's waltz competition. Recently Hi") of the oldest residents of Hornsev, England, were entertained bv the local branch of the Y.M.C.A. The oldest of them all. Miss Mary Ashley, aged 99, was deputed to present a bouquet to the Lady Mayoress of London. But she misunderstood. She thought the bouquet was for her, and refused to part with it. "I'll give it to vou now." Miss Ashley said, I when the mistake was explained to her, "but vou must give it back to me later." The Lady Mayoress accepted the bouquet smilingly, and returned it at the end of the party.
