He was sentenced to six rutnths' imprisotiment with hard labour. ASSAULT Thomas Herbert McLaughlan, of Roi- [ k rton street, a labourer, aged 57, on a charge of assaulting William Whitty, [ was convicted and discharged. I ! DRUNKENNESS 1 For drunkenness—his second offence in six months—William Brown, of Allen street, a labourer, aged 41, was fined 20s and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment with hard labour. HIGHWAYS BOARD CASES For operating an unlicensed heavy traffic vehicle Charles Lloyd was fined £2 and costs. John Robertson, on a charge of overloading a heavy traffic vehicle, was fined £3 and costs. LINE NOT CLEAR For attempting to cross a railway line at Belfast when the line was not Clear William Martin was nned 20s and costs. TRAFFIC CASES For cycling at night without lights the following were fined with costs: — Robert Cummings, 20s; Harold Hoare, ss; Dorothy Alberta Pearson, 15s; Frank Silcock, 15s; Thomas Woods, 15s; Stanley William Alderson, 15s; Edna Allen, 10s; Thurston Pearson, 15s; Sydney Birch Atkinson, 15s; Frank Ernest Empson, 15s; Herbert Eric Cox, 15s; Findlater Broadhurst, 15s; Leonard Hampton Duffield, 15s. For obstructing a constable Joseph Hodges was fined 20s and costs, and for cycling at night without a light he was convicted and discharged. Alan Dixon was fined £2 and costs for negligent driving and was convicted- and discharged for not having efficient brakes. John Michael Gearschawski was fined 20s and costs for driving a horse and cart at night without lights. For driving motor-vehicles at night without sufficient lights Stuart Maxwell Kirkcaldie was fined 15s and costs, and Frederick James Marsh 5s and Edna Marie Milne, 5s and costs. Andrew White was fined 15s and costs for negligently riding a biycyle and was convicted and discharged for riding at night witn-.ut a light. Charges of negligently riding bicycles against Leonard Marriott and Albert Penney were dismissed.
