POLITICAL LEADERS TO TOUR
MR FORBES AND LEADER OF OPPOSITION (rfIESS ASSOCIATION' TKUSGRA.M.I • WELLINGTON, February 12. It is the intention of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) to undertake a tour of the main centres of the North Island in the near future for the purpose of meeting representative citizens and addressing public meetings. Mr Forbes will leave at the end of .the week on a brief visit to the Rotorua district. The leader of the Opposition (Mr M. J. Savage) will open his first tour in an -official capacity at Christchurch on February 21. His itinerary will include most of the main centres between Christchurch end Bluff, and several meetings will also be held on the West Coast. Mr Savage is to be accorded a civic reception on Wednesday, February"2l, on the occasion of his first visit to Christchurch since his appointment. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) said yesterday that the reception would be non-political in character, and speakers who were not members of the Labour party would take part in the welcome to Mr Savage.
