SHIRLEY SCHOOL
♦ OPENING ROLL OF 340 When the new intermediate school at Shirley opened yesterday a total of 340 pupils was in attendance. This' large number was divided into eight classes, the selection being made after tests in English, intelligence, and arithmetic combined with a study of records of the pupils at their previous schools. The classes are Standard VI, A, B. C, and D, and standard V., which is subdivided into the same forms. The opening proper will be performed by the Hon. R. Masters, Minister for Education, on February 26, so that the children will have had a fortnight in which to make up time lost through the postponement of the opening one week ago.
