DEATH BY DROWNING

, ~ I (SPECIAL TO TH£ FKESS.) HOKITJKA, October 26. A verdict of accidental death by drowning was returned at an inquest held yesterday into the death of Mark Te Koeti by the coroner, Mr R. Richie. Evidence was given that Te Kocti had been carting whitebait from his home at Bruce Bay to Weheka and had to cross Saltwater creek on the journey. Considerable rain had fallen, and all the local creeks and rivers were in heavy flood. The horses and gig in which Te Koeti had been travelling had been found beside the creek, and the body had been found caught in z< tree stump in the bed of the creek.
