NEW ZEALAND CHRISTMAS GIFT BOOKLET

Searchers for something of a distinctly New Zealand character to send io relatives and friends as a Christmas greeting will And what they seek in "First New Zealand Christmaseß," a pleasingly got up and well illustrated booklet published by A. H. Reed, of Dunedin and Wellington. The three Christmases described and illustrated are those spent by Tasman in 1642, Cook in 1769, and by Marsden in 1814. It is published as a tribute to the memory of the pioneer missionary of New Zealand, the Rev. Samuel Marsden, and amongst other interesting features there is reproduced a facsimile page of a manuscript sermon by him. There are several illustrations of scenes depicting the early days of the Dominion, and the cover bears a representation, in colour, of a manuka tree.
