NEW ZEALAND TEAM • RETURNS ' MANAGER'S TRIBUTE IFRESB 4.SBOCIATIOH TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, October 13. A tribute to the manner in which the New Zealand boxing team acquitted itself against the Australian representatives was paid by the manager, Mr George Bush, who, with the members of the team, returned from Australia by the Wanganella. New Zealand won six matches to Australia's four in the contests held in Brisbane, and, according to Mr Bush, a very high standard of boxing was revealed. The team returned with 10 silver cups and numerous medals. Arrangements have been practically completed for an Australian boxing team to visit New Zealand next September or October, Mr Bush said. The Australians had also agreed to the inclusion of a light-heavy-weight class in their championships. A feature of the tournament was that not one New Zealander was ever knocked off his feet. Mi Bush continued. This in itself was a tribute to the defence of the Dominion representatives. The trainer, Mr Donoghue, had worked hard in getting them into first-class condition. Williams had unfortunately contracted influenza in Brisbane, and although he made a good recovery, he was still too weak at the time of the tournament to be permitted to enter the ring. McKay and R. Purdie had been ! unable to fight on the second night of the contests, owing to injuries. The members of the team created an excellent impression, both in and out of the ring.
