AUSTRALIAN MEETING (UPJTXD r-ttESS ASSOCIATION— HI XLDCTKIC TBLUGIUITi—COPIftIOHT.> j SYDNEY, October 10. Nearly 1000 competitors are taking part in the rifle championship meeting at Liverpool. The shooting was keen, with many possibles. The Mark Foy Match, 10 shots. 300 yards,. was won by Morris, of Goulburn, who had the best of nine possibles. J. C. ■ Carter (New Zealand) was sixty-sixth, and H. L. Lucena (New Zealand) one hundred and twelfth. Forty-eight received £1 each. The Lemaitre Match, 10 shots, GOO yards, was won by Phillips, of Melbourne, with the best of eight possibles. Lucena was sixty-seventh. Forty-eight received £1 each. The Dangar Match, 10 shots, 700 yards, was won by Painter, of Gouiburn, with the b'est of five possibles. The Paine aggregate, the best of these three matches, was won by Treadwell, of' Melbourne, with 147. Eight others scored 146. The weather-was boisterous at timss.
FURTHER RESULTS (Received October 10, 11.31 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 10. At the national rifle meeting many possibles were recorded. In the Motton match, 10 shots at 300 yards, A. Sharpe (South Sydney) won with the best of nine possibles. The New Zealanders, Lucena and Carter, were thirty<-seventh. and thirty-nintn, each winning £l. • • ' . In the Jatnieson match, 10 shots at 800 yards, E. G. Übank (Queensland) and E. H. .Wilshire. (Mosman). -ith the best of eight possibles, mu:.: sh-ot off for first place. .
